As with any pet, the best way to ensure the good health of our iguana is to observe it. If you stop eating, have mucus in your mouth or nose, breathe hard or your limbs are numb, you are probably sick. These are some of the diseases most common in iguanas:

Parasites
They can be internal or external. The internal parasites cause lack of appetite, do not usually involve seriousness. More problematic are the external parasites, in general mites that occupy the iguana's mouth and eyes. To eliminate them you have to use acaricides.

Skin infections
They are caused by excess moisture or lack of hygiene. The affected skin area must be carefully washed and, to prevent it from happening again, improve the conditions of the terrarium.

Lack of calcium
Iguanas tend to suffer from a disease in their metabolism that prevents them from absorbing calcium well. The symptoms of this disease are inflammation of the hind legs of the iguana. To avoid this, simply add calcium powder to our iguana's diet.

Burns
Sometimes, by accident, our iguana can get too close to the terrarium's heat source and burn. Watch the burn well, if it is small it will heal on its own, but if it is serious you should take your iguana to the veterinarian.

Respiratory infections
If your iguana has mucus, closed eyes and trouble breathing well, you probably have a respiratory infection. You must react quickly and go to the veterinarian, because iguanas are very sensitive to this disease, which is also contagious. To avoid it, it is best to increase the temperature of the terrarium.

Best answer: I know that it is not good to do this ... but at least I admit it I WILL COPY AND PAY THEY DON'T JUDGE I WILL HELP THIS ANIMAL THAT IS GOING TO LEAVE THE IGUANA I SAY THE ANIMAL IS GOING TO DIE. : D

"Hi! Look, maybe your iguana did the same thing as mine. To me a boy who couldn't have it anymore, gave it to me 2 weeks ago. When I brought her home for 4 days without eating, for more than I put her favorite foods in. I took her to a veteran exotic specialist and she told me that the house change and owner stressed her out a lot and that's why she stopped eating. The veteran told me to force her to eat a porridge of: green zucchini , apple or pear, reptocal (it is calcium, put a pinch), reptolife (multivitamin, minerals and antioxidant, another pinch) and 5 drops of an appetite-stimulating polyvitamin. The thing is that you prepare the porridge, together with a syringe ( without the needle, eh!), you grab the iguana (carefully and below, if possible), you will slowly pull the flap that it has in the throat (so open your mouth) and give it the porridge. It is NOTHING easy at first, but mine on the third day already understood what the thing was like and she just opens her mouth to eat the jer inga
Yes. put on a glove, because with the hind legs you get scratches that I don't even tell you (I had to buy a healing cream haha). She told me that just after 15 days I was going to notice that I gained weight and started eating for herself and that's what she was, since yesterday she ate alone.
Try to do that, but the best thing would be for you to go to a veteran who knows the subject so that he can advise you well. You also have to go yes or yes to buy calcium and vitamins (essential for the health of your iguana).
You also have to provide a UVB light (replaces the sun and serves to metabolize your food well), a focus of heat (there are those who are against and in favor of the heating stone), humidity and a balanced and healthy diet (not des lettuce xq have VERY few proteins, no carrots, xq have oxalic acid and it makes them bad) "(QUESTION FORMULATED TWO YEARS AGO IN YAHOO ANSWERS JEJEJ

You have to tell us what lights, temperatures, terrarium the animal has. The more data you give us the better, and already ideal some photos.

The changes do not like the iguanas, and changing house is a lot of change, they stress and stop eating for a few days, hopefully it is just that.
